Buying beef direct from the farm is different than going down to your local supermarket. To help you understand why and how... We're a small farm. We only raise about 18 sides of beef a year and it takes about 16 months from birth till they're ready for processing. We don't store or inventory any beef as that just wouldn't support our goal of offering a fresh healthier beef product. Our beef goes straight off our farm to the processor, then to you. So buying from us means getting on a reserve list for a side that will be ready at some time in the future. With our limited supply, rising interest in farm-raised beef and prior reservations, pls keep in mind that could mean a several month wait. So here's how it works. It starts with a $100 deposit for the next available side. If you email us, we can let you know when the current next avail is, but please keep in mind reservations are on a first come deposit basis. When your calf is ready, we’ll contact you to see how you’d like it aged, cut, wrapped, etc. and set a date and time for you to pick it up. When you pick it up at our farm, you can pay the $800 balance and expect a couple boxes of cut and wrapped beef about 2’ square by 1’ high. You’ll need to plan on having about 6 cu ft of freezer space available which in our standup freezer takes up about two shelves (12” high x 27” wide x 16” deep). So buying off the farm is not quite as convienient as the supermarket...but then we don't think its mean't to be. Along with the whole process of slowing down and raising beef in a more natural way, we enjoy seeing our customers yearly when they come to pick up their beef. Whether its a short visit or bringing the kids to run around the pasture for awhile and see what a farm looks like, we'd like to give you a little more than just a healthier food product. |
